The Damaged alternate reality game (ARG) is a digitally-focused psychological thriller that pits our audience against a world of tech-savvy hackers and vicious killers.

I worked closely with series director Richard Rotter to build an ARG that provided not only immersed fans into the show world, but also connected them to the thrilling finale.

GAME DESIGN

By watching the Damaged web-series, fans would be given the first clue; the URL to a site that mimics remote access to series protagonist Michael Craven’s desktop!

There they could further unravel the mystery by exploring gigs of data, and eventually with a chatbot-driven interaction with Naomi, the secretive serial killer hunter.

CONNECTED NARRATIVES

In order to tie the narrative into the greater world, I designed the gameplay to provide additional details and add context to the unfolding events of the web-series.

Eventually the ARG provides a dark reflection to the series finale twist. Whereas Michael discovers his SMS with The Wolf was actually Naomi, our players discover that their Naomi was actually The Wolf—and that they are responsible for helping the serial killer track down her identity!

A computer folder containing many files (images, documents, and videos) referencing an investigation into the serial killer known as "The Wolf"
