As a continuation of the acclaimed Highrise documentary series, Universe Within explores the digital lives of those residents of modern apartments across the globe. As an interactive documentary, Universe Within takes full advantage of the dynamic and collaborative nature of the web - becoming a part of the story itself.

Design Direction

As the principal creative lead on the project, I worked closely with the filmmakers and producers at the NFB to develop the visual style and themes. The web-based experience relied heavily on WebGL & Kinect capture data to create “virtual hosts”.

Interface Design

As an interactive doc, Universe Within allows users to react to the stories of other digital residents and then gauge their own feelings of connectedness and isolation through several artful interfaces designs.
